Even though it has no state tax (yet! They are run by Democrats now) Washington state has a lot of annoying laws and has state run liquor stores. I don’t drink, but I am against government doing much of anything. Washington shows us why I’m right.

Now this is just a state. The feds are mismanaging the VA and Medicare/Medicaid health systems but they want to take over all the heath care in the US, even though Medicare is running out of money in 8 years.

There’s a new heath care bill in teh senate where they want to force people who opt out of government care to pay a $1000 a year.

Americans who refuse to buy affordable medical coverage could be hit with fines of more than $1,000 under a health care overhaul bill unveiled Thursday by key Senate Democrats looking to fulfill President Barack Obama’s top domestic priority.

The Congressional Budget Office estimated the fines will raise around $36 billion over 10 years. Senate aides said the penalties would be modeled on the approach taken by Massachusetts, which now imposes a fine of about $1,000 a year on individuals who refuse to get coverage. Under the federal legislation, families would pay higher penalties than individuals.

Government can not do anything except steal money from people.

    It’s unbelievable how Obama is getting away with blatant lies all the time. He claims the health care bill “won’t cost anything” even though the proposal itself says it will cost in excess of 1 trillion. The gall!! He’s also holding up Medicare as a model for how well government can run a medical program. News flash, BHO–Medicare is $37 trillion in debt. A government program indeed.
    The hidden poison pill which makes any claim of a parallel system of government and private health care a blatant lie is the fact that medical coverage benefits would now be taxed as income, thus destroying private health care. And one of the most staggeringly obnoxious things in the bill is that this taxing of benefits is specifically waived for unions!! This is torches and pitchforks time.
    Cap and trade…they’re claiming it will cost the average household $145 a year. The writers of the bill itself say it’ll be more like $1300 and when you add in the downhill costs passed on by business, the CBO is saying $3000+. This for a bill that was passed without not only anyone having read the whole thing, but which was not even completed!!
    This nation is descending into chaos and insanity at a speed I never would have believed possible.

    And yes, the first thing I thought of was how this looked like rationing.
    The accidental kind of rationing we’ll soon be getting. Which will be in addition to the intentional rationing they will constantly claim we aren’t getting….

    Some senators like Inhofe say cap and trade will fail in the senate. We’ll see.

    Obama is saying his health care system will save money. Sure will. It will cost the people lots of money which will enrich the government, but it saves money for teh government because they will be able to directly deny people their procedures and treatments.

    He’s a clown, so he should fit right in.

    Actually the 60 vote majority is a myth. Two are independents. Saunders and Lieberman, and they are against the cap and trade bill (and I believe health care). Two are out sick (Kennedy and Bryd) and the Senate is tougher than the Congress, There is more stress on them from their voters in some ways. There is a good chance these bills will fail. I hope so.

    Nevada’s legal prostitution resulted in the Mustang Ranch being the most successful with over a $100 million in revenues. The owner was hounded out of the country by the IRS, so the feds took it over. Guess what happened next?

    It went bankrupt.

    If the feds can’t run a whorehouse, what makes them think they can run health care or anything else? They can’t even run the government.
