I’ve been asked to be a judge for next year’s Eisner Awards, which is a first for me. Should be interesting. I will have to plow through a lot of comics over the next few months.

    Damn good news.
    Many moons ago when we submitted Domu (Otomo’s best manga – better than Akira) Mike Richardson and I both wrote letters asking the judges to please read it carefully and give it a chance. (This was at the peak of the “manga backlash”). It was ignored.
    Dark Horse also submitted Tomoko’s amazing lettering work for year after year, but pretty much every year the committee sort of reflexively gave the award to Todd Klein. Who is fine and all but, not doing the sort of work Tomoko was on titles like Gunsmith Cats and especially Blade of the Immortal.
    Anyway, it’ll be nice to have at least one judge who isn’t beholden to the latest industry trends and politics.
