Trash in the Limelight

The celeb culture in this country has become a rancid joke. They focus all their attention on dysfunctional people. These fools are made out to be important, while those who do real things of importance are ignored. And it seems they push these broken people on to greater acts of desperation to see more attention. Witness this.

Fortunately for Lindsy, she was just sentenced to 90 days in jail. I say fortunately, because it may be the wake up call she needs to bust out of her insane cycle of foolishness. We’ll see.

But the media will find some other mess to focus on when they get bored with her. It was Britney and Paris before her, there will be someone else. As long as people buy these trash magazines, this kind of thing will continue. And our culture is the lesser for it.

The unfortunate thing is that celebrity news is pervasive and invasive all over the world.

Our “hard-breaking” news has become another informercial for massively arrogant, stupid people doing really dumb things!

(It's also become more pervasively 'idiot-logical', too, with less-than-subliminal political commentary and blame put in where it's not warranted.)

The unfortunate thing for a lot of us is that we're addicted to junk, whether it's our food or gossip news. Seriously, with as boring as most news of the day is and how poorly it's presented entertainment news is a lot more interesting to many of us.

(They're saying now that up to 25% of the general population doesn't understand the significance of July 4th. These are the chowderheads that learned nothing during grade school and are spitting out the most kids in society now!)

I'm not the biggest E! News watcher and generally change the channel on most celebrity trainwrecks but the sad thing is that I'm all too aware of this @%!@$@!! because you can't get away from it no matter where you get your news.

It's on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FoxNews, Drudge, etc…

The thing is, whenever one (or more) of these rich, glittery maladroits gets center stage of the news, people aren't looking to see what is really going on. When these folks grab the headlines, we have to look down under the fold, back to page 2 or 3, to see a REAL story that's unfolding, that maybe certain interests would rather we didn't pay a whole lot of attention to, like blocking journalists from covering the Gulf Oil Disaster, for instance. It's all about misdirection: Look at the shiny! Pay no attention to all that boring stuff going on over there…
