Vietnam Redux

We didn’t lose the Vietnam war, no matter what they may have told you in school. We defeated the North Vietnamese army, the Tet offensive was the last hurrah of the North. But the Democrats used it and the capitulation message that came from CBS’s Walter Cronkite as an excuse to cut off funding to the war. The Nixon Administration (mainly Dr. Henry Kissinger) had been negotiating with the North for a peaceful resolution. But cutting off funding, the North knew we were going to leave. So they just waited till we did and moved in. Peace treaty or not, as soon as the majority of our troops pulled out, they moved in and the South fell to the communists. A very serious humanitarian disaster followed for years.

The Democrats and the leftist anti-war crowd shrugged. The same people who were complaining about American committed “atrocities” in the war, most of which were nothing but communist propaganda, didn’t seem to care about the atrocities that were perpetrated on all these displaced people. A vast number of them came here.

Prepare for something similar. Barack Obama gave a speech today indicating that we were done in Iraq, and would be winding down in Afghanistan. This is basically telling Al Qaeda and other monsters in the region there will be a power vacuum and they can move in unopposed. It will happen. And when it does hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people will die. Many will be displaced. Many will relocate here. Two more dominos will fall and Muslim extremists will have two more nations under their control.

Obama has neither the skill, the wisdom or the will to maintain our war efforts. He put good people in charge, but he has lost the support of most Americans and will try to appease his base, who are losing interest in him fast. The same crowd who didn’t care about the boat people and the Cambodian killing fields will make jokes about the Iraqis and Afghanis who lose their lives and freedom to terrorists and the Taliban. I’m sure sanctimonious clowns like David Letterman will make cracks to Paul about how glad he is we’re out of there. Then wipe mock flop sweat from his brow.

Jimmy Carter sold out the people of Iran. Obama will have two nations on his conscience, if he has one.

Unless some miracle happens in the next year, I say expect to see a lot of horror stories coming from the middle east. That may sound really pessimistic, but this administration is repeating history.

Elections do have consequences. When Bush started his war on terror and said it would take 10 years, I thought: “If your war is unpopular and the other party gets elected, it can end badly.”

I hope I’m wrong.

The Death of Global Warming

It’s coming apart, slowly but surely.

A high-level inquiry into the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change found there was “little evidence” for its claims about global warming.
It also said the panel had emphasised the negative impacts of climate change and made “substantive findings” based on little proof.
The review by the InterAcademy Council (IAC) was launched after the IPCC’s hugely embarrassing 2007 benchmark climate change report, which contained exaggerated and false claims that Himalayan glaciers could melt by 2035.

The panel was forced to admit its key claim in support of global warming was lifted from a 1999 magazine article. The report was based on an interview with a little-known Indian scientist who has since said his views were “speculation” and not backed by research.

Independent climate scientist Peter Taylor said last night: “The IPCC’s credibility has been deeply dented and something has to be done. It can’t just be a matter of adjusting the practices. They have got to look at what are the consequences of having got it wrong in terms of what the public think is going on. Admitting that it needs to reform means something has gone wrong and they really do need to look at the science.”

The statists who have been running this scam will not go down without a fight. They see it as a huge cash cow. The new taxes and other schemes they want to impose on us all are something they have been trying to implement for over a decade now. The political leaders presently in power are still trying to get laws passed. But the public is growing increasingly resistant and in tough economic times, these costs and measures will be economy killers. They will not get through before the November elections, and after that I would say the chances are next to nil.

But until Global Warming is dead and buried we shouldn’t celebrate yet. But it’s getting there.

UPDATE: Another shot to the foot

Umbrella Trick

Scary Picture of the Day

To the people who endorse dependence on the state and limiting people’s freedoms, this picture has to be disturbing. It’s the people who showed up for Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor rally in Washington. It’s a clear sign that people are motivated to vote out the big government loving progressives in either party.

Of course, the lap dog media is out there pointing out the the attendees are “mostly white” because, you know, white people have no right to opinions. They’re stupid racists. They should just shut up and do what they’re told. And that goes for any black people, gays or any other minorities who step off the reservation. You will be punished, slaves! Get back in line!

That’s really what the critics of this thing are saying. They’re afraid of debate and they’re really afraid of change. The kind that removes them from power, naturally. They had such a good scam going, bleeding the nation dry. And whittling away what’s left of people’s rights. And making sure they understand that their opinions don’t matter because they’re in charge and you are just supposed to thank them as they beat you.

Does that sound too harsh?

Now, I’m not totally down with Beck’s spiel. I don’t think religion is what needs to be back in government. It’s SANITY that matters. We have people running the show who are destroying the greatest, most prosperous nation on earth and are determined to continue their work. Beck is into generalities. He means well. And at least he is getting people’s attention.

His rally was not political. It was not partisan. That is one of the big lies that the detractors keep saying. It is about restoring core religious values to our society and government. Gee,what a frightening thought that must be to all those amoral, lying hacks in the press.

Especially the so called “progressives”, who better be worried because signs are not going their way. Could they get a crowd like that now for any of the bogus agendas. Doubtful. This one was three times the size of that famous anti-Vietnam rally that was in a scene from Forrest Gump. The one Norman Mailer wrote about as Armies of the Night. Only 100,000 showed up for that.

The counter demonstration to Beck’s rally only attracted some flies and homeless people looking for free food. Oh, yeah and some assorted nuts and flakes.

The press is going to town on the Beck Rally, but the good one to watch is in a couple of weeks. The 9/11 memorial. It’ll be interesting. Attending will be people like Geert Wilders the rising Dutch politician who wants the Koran banned in his country, as hate literature, to make a point about his country’s double standard. He also want Muslim immigration stopped because it’s threatening to swamp his tiny nation. The press has already branded him the new Hitler. Watch them go crazy in two weeks.

Like it or not, things are coming to a head. It’s like the late 1930s all over again. Forces are trying to push their agendas on unwilling populations and there will be blow back. Add to that a global economic meltdown and it can get really ugly. Our alleged president is not going to help matters any.

The left wants to make “the right” out to be all about racism and so on. But that’s not it at all. And the more they try to play that card, the more they will create a response they will not see coming. Yesterday was a sign of things to come. The people were well behaved and they picked up after themselves. The lefties are going out of their way to insult tea partiers and anyone else who sympathizes. They fail to understand that they’re making the majority of people in this country angrier and angrier with their relentless lies. Not a smart thing to do at all. As they are bound to discover.

Watch this video for a good overview. It’s from non-partisan Reason TV.

Bad Faith at Ground Zero

Why Isn’t Obama Defending America?

Leave it to a British paper to say something American papers are failing to do. In an editorial in the Daily Telegraph Tony Harnden asks: Why can’t Barack Obama tell the world about American tolerance? We are one of the world’s most tolerant and integrated societies. We allow religious freedom, which many countries, especially Muslim ones, do not.

Yet the unintelligencia here in the US continue to beat the drum that we’re all bigots and stupid. And Obama hasn’t done much to change that perception. Instead, he lectures us.

A president is supposed to represent us. He’s supposed to tell the world why we’re the good guys, define our positive traits, not go around apologizing and bowing and scraping to every dictator and despot.

The answer to the above question is he isn’t much of a leader and he certainly isn’t a good friend to the people of this nation. Say what you want about Bush but he obviously loved America. The dufus in chief we have now obviously doesn’t, and neither does his wife.

What the Americans are bigots meme foisted by the press fails to say is that most hate crimes are perpetrated against whites. Not Muslims. Hate crimes against Muslims are rare, even after 9/11. The press wants us to believe white people are out to get anyone different than they are. And this relentless bias against Caucasians bears some responsibility for the hate crimes against whites, which the press pretends doesn’t exist.

So America, this allegedly bigoted nation, has a black president who lectures us about tolerance while his administration dismisses cases against racist groups like the black panthers and encourages triumphalist mosques on ground zero. Great.

Our Guy vs Their Guy

Horror Show

Steve Gerber

Val Mayerik, who co-created Howard the Duck with Steve Gerber, as well as did Man Thing with him, did this great tribute painting in memory of his friend. Steve was also a good friend of mine. We had lunch almost once a month when I lived in Vegas. We both miss Steve and I thought those of you who knew him or liked his work would appreciate this.

Follow the Money

The American financial system is suffering because of statists interference in the markets. The Housing Bubble was a creation of the government telling banks they MUST lend to risky creditors or else. And that the government would back up those loans. We saw what happened with that brilliant act.

So a lot of people on the left tried to blame the market problems on the “failure of capitalism”. Sorry, it was the interference of government in the free markets. That always leads to trouble. And now we have some people bailing on our economy and rushing to get in bed with other markets. Such as Mayor Bloomberg of NY City. He decided to get heavily in bed with Middle Eastern markets. And, whoa, look at that. Now he’s the biggest fan of Islam. Why, he’s been the Park 51 Victory Mosque’s biggest defender.

Whenever a politician champions something unpopular, follow the money. Al Gore, in bed with the Green Business, so why wouldn’t he be selling Global Warming? Ditto Obama, who was on the board the very first carbon credits company. A company Gore has ties to.

We’re always hearing about how crooked capitalists are. Well here’s some crooked capitalists in action.

Iran: Then and Now

Iran in the 70s

Iran today

The Shah of Iran was beset on two fronts. The Iranian Communists who were funded by the Soviet Union, who wanted the pro-western nation to become a Soviet satellite state, and the Islamists, who eventually succeeded in over throwing the Shah and instituted their radical, totalitarian state.

When you want to destroy a society, you try to break it from within. That is what the Islamists did. What the Soviets tried. That is what our enemies have been trying here. They have tried to break America’s confidence in itself which was once unparalleled. They have tried to make Americans question every move they make. They tried to make everyone believe we’re the bad guys, so we won’t fight back when they try to destroy our government. Now we have people in government trying to undermine our constitution and rights in every way, and these people were educated in the ways of Marxists. In fact, over 70 self professed socialists in Congress now. Many members of this administration have socialist or leftist ties. Many, if not most of the Republicans and Democrats in Congress and the Senate are advancing big government.

Statism only leads to totalitarianism. History has shown this over and over again. It doesn’t matter what they call it, Communism, Socialism, Fascism, Islamism, whatever, it ends up being the same thing in the end. A brutal regime of some kind oppresses everyone else. Those who endorse statism, whether they be Islamic fundamentalists or Marxist radicals, they only bring about oppressive societies where people have limited options. When you look at the political landscape, those who are for more government, more taxes are the enemies of individual rights and freedoms. No matter what they claim. Even if they believe otherwise, themselves.

They are trying to make anyone for smaller government out to be “extreme” and “radical”, but that is how it works when you’re out to steal or cheat someone.

You never say, “I am going to take away your money and freedom. Vote for me!” No one would vote for you. So you accuse the other guy of wanting to do what you intend to pull off once you have power. That is how Hugo Chavez got into power in Venezuela. He claimed that the evil capitalists were oppressing the people, and now the people of Venezuela have less freedom, a dictator and a dying economy. The Islamists in Iran told the people that they had to get rid of the Shah because he was a puppet of the west and a brutal dictator. They created a government a 100 times worse than anything the people ever experienced under the Shah. Under the Shah, women had equal rights. Iran was a prosperous country. Now it is a barbaric, backward place feared by its neighbors and an exporter of terrorism.

Here’s an interview with the Shah during the energy crisis when OPEC had raised the price of oil, defending Iran’s participation in that. His view of the future of Iran is that it would be one of the world’s most prosperous nations. And it would have been if not for the two evil factions who wanted to take him down. When you hear him talk about how fast his economy is growing, you can see why the Communists and Islamists wanted to take it over. Of course, they kill economies, not make them succeed.

Look at what’s happening in the world today and think about that. They got Iran. Now they want to take us down. Maybe not the Soviets, but certainly the same kind of forces. We do not want to end up like Iran, or Venezuela.

Remember November.

UPDATE: Compare the Shah meeting Kennedy to the insane fanatic running Iran now.

The Two Choices

It’s very revealing to watch the reaction to Glenn Beck’s rally this weekend. His 9/12 movement was intended to “restore honor” in Washington and the way the left is attacking it and the tea party tells you everything you need to know about them. The way they are trying to demonize people who are sick of the corruption and waste in Washington, is to to make them out to be racists and radicals. This is all coming from people who want big government, want more taxes, more authority for bureaucrats. In otherwords, the promoters of statism. The enemies of personal liberty.

They’re attacking this rally as if it’s an assault on civil rights because its being held at the same place, on the anniversary of a famous Martin Luther King speech. But the intentions of this rally has to do with bringing back limited government. And the only people who would have a problem with restoring the constitution are its enemies. And they seem to be viewing this rally as a big threat. The leftists are sending their thugs to try to disrupt it. What does that tell you?

I’ve been watching a film this week called the Baeder-Meinhoff Complex, about a famous German couple that were Marxist terrorists in the early 70s in Europe. During that time we had these kind of people running around the west, murdering and committing mayhem all in the name of “liberation”. But they were nothing but egotistical, violent lunatics who wanted to be famous. We had the SLA, Black Panthers and the Weathermen in the US. No Marxist revolutionary has ever been anything but a murderer and an enemy of freedom. Marxists don’t liberate anyone. If they win they enslave the population and imprison them behind the iron curtain. At least, that was the case in the 70s. We got to see the Iron curtain fall in the late 80s, thank god. But there are still plenty of creeps who want to take us back to those days.

The same people who are attacking Beck and the tea party for being against the growing totalitarianism of this administration. They are the aging survivors of that age of stupidity.

Listen to all those people attacking this rally and you see what they’re really against. Freedom.

They claim to be against racism when there is none in the tea party. They claim to be against radicals, when they are in fact that very thing. They are really trying to shut down a healthy debate about what kind of government we want. They do not want the expansion of government to stop. History has shown time and time again that the more powerful a government is, the less freedom the people have. We live in a representational democratic Republic. They are opposed to the people having a voice.

You have only two choices when it comes to government. One where the people rule and the other where the state dictates. Which side do you want to be on. The one for freedom or the one for slavery?

The enemies of this rally have made their choice already.

UPDATE: Here’s a good example of what I’m talking about when it comes to the state.
