Some Things the Beatle’s Couldn’t Fix
Back when I was fresh out of high school a movie came out and lasted one week that had music by the Beatles, covered by top artists of the time that used footage from WWII and old movies to cover the war. Very strange and bad. It came and went so fast you had to blink to know it existed. Well, I found the trailer!
Three years later another abortion came out called Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band that also bombed. Produced by Roger Stigwood, it also had to acts from the 70s doing Beatles covers. The movie had the Beatle’s blessing even. It has to be seen to be believed, But Aerosmith did a great cover of Get Back at the end.
Obama: Nanny of the Month
I personally don’t smoke, drink or do drugs. But after long study of the issue, I think Marijuana has gotten an absurdly unfair treatment. Many people who voted for this president thought he would be more fair on the subject based on his past and his statements. But, once again, as he does about just about every issue, Obama has shown that you can’t trust anything the man says.
Falling Skies
An alien invasion series that reminds me a little of Aftermath, since both deal with picking up the pieces of civilization after an alien invasion.
Portal 2
It’ll be here in a few weeks. The sequel to one of my favorite computer games ever. It looks even cooler and funnier than the first one. The game was a unique puzzle/action game with a wicked sense of humor. It won a ton of awards when the first one came out three years ago. Can’t wait to play this.
This video shows the two robots who can be played in co-opt mode. When you play solo you play a human trapped in this insane robot controlled factory and you have to find a way to get out.

The New Fascist War on Free Speech
Politico has an article today talking about Media Matters strategy of waging war against Fox News. Aside from their mistakenly using the word “liberal” to describe Media Matters, the article gos on to describe what is basically an assault on free speech. Those who oppose the worship of the state and the leftist agenda are targeted, as I found out when my cartoon was made into a national story.
The liberal group Media Matters has quietly transformed itself in preparation for what its founder, David Brock, described in an interview as an all-out campaign of “guerrilla warfare and sabotage” aimed at the Fox News Channel.
The group, launched as a more traditional media critic, has all but abandoned its monitoring of newspapers and other television networks and is narrowing its focus to Fox and a handful of conservative websites, which its leaders view as political organizations and the “nerve center” of the conservative movement. The shift reflects the centrality of the cable channel to the contemporary conservative movement, as well as the loathing it inspires among liberals — not least among the donors who fund Media Matters’ staff of about 90, who are arrayed in neat rows in a giant war room above Massachusetts Avenue.
“The strategy that we had had toward Fox was basically a strategy of containment,” said Brock, Media Matters’ chairman and founder and a former conservative journalist, adding that the group’s main aim had been to challenge the factual claims of the channel and to attempt to prevent them from reaching the mainstream media.
The new strategy, he said, is a “war on Fox.”
These people are out and out fascists. Plain and simple. Nazi collaborator George Soros funds them. They are going after Breitbart’s sites as well because, like Fox, they offer an alternative view to the propaganda of the state. And that can’t be allowed. Leftists are against freedom. They are all about controlling people through an all powerful government.
Why else be so afraid of Fox when it’s only one cable news channel? All the other channels are left of center. And why try to destroy and discredit conservative sites, such as Brietbart’s, which are only providing another argument. Any group trying to shut down other people’s views is anti-freedom, anti-liberal. There is nothing liberal about censorship.
They talk about using facts to fight Fox, but Media Matters lies all the time. They are a propaganda outfit allied with the Democrats and they have as much to do with reality as George Lucas movies. Their goals are to further the agenda of people like George Soros.
Which is why they must be fought.
UPDATE: A good example of the left’s fascist tactics is the fatwa they put on the Koch brothers, a couple libertarian philanthropists who support the decriminalization of drugs, are anti-war, are for all sorts of causes that you would think the left would agree with. But they have demonized them and made them into the bogeyman and so many people actually see them as a threat now when they are nothing of the kind. The Weekly Standard did a good profile on them that tells their side of the story. Like I’ve said before, when some group or organization (in this case the left) tries to shut down views and opinions other than their own, you can’t trust anything they say. Libertarians are the closest thing we have to classical liberalism. So any group calling themselves “liberal” who wants to shut down libertarians is anything BUT liberal. They are fascists, plain and simple.
More on the effort to define the Koch’s as some evil masterminds. Call it a “vast left wing conspiracy” if you will. The left really doesn’t want anyone talking back.

And you thought America was strange today. Take a gander at some of these pictures from the past.

American Idol Top 11
What a great show. Probably one of the best episodes in the history of Idol. They did Motown songs and every single performer brought their A game. And this is a season where the final 11 singers are all really good. There are no Sanjaya’s or other annoyances like previous years. Everyone is solid. Which brings up the question who will get the chop tomorrow. My guess it will be one of three girls who are always in the bottom three. Haley, Naiema and maybe Thia. Thia has avoided the bottom three but she is not as flashy as some of the others. A great singer but kind of middle of the road. Haley and Naiema were at their best, but someone has to go tomorrow. It will be down to popularity.
I wasn’t crazy about last week so I didn’t even mention it. It was an OK week, but a mixed bag. Tonight’s episodes was one of the best ever, if not the best. There are so many talents on display who are ready for a career right now. Some this season are all way beyond many previous season’s talents and winners. They lucked out this year and made some very smart decisions. They did not let through any iffy talent and they use music producers to groom each singer before their performances. It really shows.
And the judges this year are all great choices. They are all music industry people with real cred. And the tone of the show is a lot better. The stage effects are fantastic. It really is one of the best entertainment shows on TV. I know people like to mock Idol but you have to give them credit for making it so much better than it ever was in its 10th year.
I can honestly say I have no idea who is likely to win this year. Unlike previous years, the competition is incredible.
UPDATE: They followed last night’s incredible show with an amazing results show. Stevie Wonder came out as a surprise for Steven Tyler to sing him happy birthday. Hulk Hogan came out to send two of the male singers who are wrestling fans to the safe couch. But the most incredible thing was my favorite singer, Casey Abrams was voted off. But the judges used their one save of the season to keep him on so the tour will have 11 this summer. Everyone was stunned that Casey, one of the most talented people in Idol history, was voted off and so soon.
Here’s the song he did last night. It wasn’t bad at all. But I think last week’s cover of Smells like Teen Spirit probably did him in because he messed with it too much.
Judge Minty
I just came across this fan made Judge Dredd movie. Impressive!
Government Doesn’t Help People
Walter Williams worked his way up from poverty and explains how political power isn’t what helps people. Government is a hindrance, not a helper. Seel the previous post. Bureaucracies are killers of prosperity.
