Science Trumps Junk Science
AGW (Anthropogenic Global Warming) just received another serious body blow. A recent discovery by CERN shows a common sense answer to climate change. NATURE!
CERN’s 8,000 scientists may not be able to find the hypothetical Higgs boson, but they have made an important contribution to climate physics, prompting climate models to be revised.
The first results from the lab’s CLOUD (“Cosmics Leaving OUtdoor Droplets”) experiment published in Nature today confirm that cosmic rays spur the formation of clouds through ion-induced nucleation. Current thinking posits that half of the Earth’s clouds are formed through nucleation. The paper is entitled Role of sulphuric acid, ammonia and galactic cosmic rays in atmospheric aerosol nucleation.
This has significant implications for climate science because water vapour and clouds play a large role in determining global temperatures. Tiny changes in overall cloud cover can result in relatively large temperature changes.
Unsurprisingly, it’s a politically sensitive topic, as it provides support for a “heliocentric” rather than “anthropogenic” approach to climate change: the sun plays a large role in modulating the quantity of cosmic rays reaching the upper atmosphere of the Earth.
Yes, the sun and cosmic rays affect the earth’s climate, not human beings. What a shock. It’s only obvious to anyone with an IQ above room temperature.
The Government is a Mob
LA County is forcing people off their properties for bogus reasons that are obviously being done to make the land available for some kind of development. Some commissioners are looking to get rich off a land deal. This is a perfect example of how the government is a predatory force, existing to benefit a few entitled people at the expense of citizens who own their own property.
DC’s Desperate Measures
In trying to relaunch every single title in their line as a #1, DC once again misses the point entirely. People have largely walked way from comics because they are tired of being abused like this by the publishers. They read comics because they loved the characters and wanted good stories, but like Hollywood the publishers relied on crappy stars and bad sensation instead of getting down to making solid, dependable products.
The people running these companies don’t even know what good is. So they just rely one the same old people to crank out the same old stuff that is resulting in declining sales. I don’t now if they will ever get that, before its too late.
