FutureComputer
All you techies, drool. I sure want one. I am sure a lot of future tech will be along these lines. Even smaller ones.
Comics on the iPad
Gizmodo has a post up about how comics will look on the iPad.
I am looking forward to the day I can see that myself in person.
If you have a copy of my comic “Strikeforce: Morituri: The Electric Undertow” from the late 1980s, I have a character reading a comic book on something similar to an iPad. I knew that day would come eventually,
The Google Tablet
When I said last week that Google will soon have their own tablet computers (or manufacturers like Sony will make them and they will run Google’s OS), I wasn’t kidding. Here is a proof of concept video from Google showing how their system would work. And look! It has multi-tasking.
How soon can we expect this to come about? No idea, but I would say either this year or next would not surprise me. There’s a lot more on this subject at Tech Crunch.
UPDATE: I had this same idea, but I didn’t mention it in my ipad article. Oh well. I remember the flat tablet TV from 2001 when I was a kid. I have waited that long (since 1969) to see it become a reality).;
Apple’s iPad is Here

It think it looks great. It’s basically a large iPhone. It runs that operating system (OS). And they were very wise to keep the price point down.
They will manage to do really well for a year or two. But don’t be shocked wen others release their versions, using Google’s Android OS, or Google’s Chome OS. Since Google’s stuff us open source, it should take over the market share unless Apple switches their policies, which I doubt.
But anyway, this is where publishing will go to be “saved.” I will write more on this at Big Journalism.
UPDATE: Here is my post.
Chrome
I noticed I’ve been using Chrome more to surf the web than my beloved Firefox. Mainly because Firefox loads a lot slower. I suspect that’s because I have a lot of add ons on my Firefox version, but it seems I don’t use them as much as I expected and so the speed thing gets annoying. Chrome is faster. And I am looking forward to playing with the OS, which is getting great reviews. When I get a netbook, I may make that the OS (Operating System).
I know plenty of people are creeped out by Google, but I have to say I am impressed by a lot of their work. They produce very nice software and apps.
Apple Will Save Comics
While the Kindle has done decently as an e-book platform, Apple is about to clean its clock with it’s tablet computer. And it won’t be the only one. Tablet PC’s are about to become the norm. And the Book and Comic will soon become a lot more affordable and easy to read in digital form.
This article from Mashable delves into the new Apple tablet. I look forward to getting one when they come out.
With comics in digital form, they will be easier to find and more people will be able to read them for little cost. It could be the thing that saves the industry.
Print is on it way out. I’ve been saying that for years. It will always be around as a collectors thing, but digital is the future.
