Val Mayerik Interview Tomorrow
Tonight I’ll be interviewing Val Mayerik for my podcast and I should be posting it Sunday. We’ll be talking about his long career in comics, working with Neal Adams Continuity Studios in the beginning, then at Marvel with Steve Gerber and others. Then working with Harvy Pekar on American Splendor. And we’ll catch up with him on his current projects.
Next week, Peter Bagge who I’ve been wanting to chat with for some time but never got the chance. The creator of Neat Stuff, Hate! and other great comics.
Hudcast #3: Outsiders in Comics
Tonight I share a 2 hour interview I did with comics artist Bosch Fawstin about his comic The Infidel, what it’s like to be an outsider in comics. We discuss Islam, President Obama, comics and a host of other subjects. This is sure to cause some controversy. Let listeners beware, neither of us pull any punches. My own view of Islam is more complex than Bosch’s but this is his interview and I let him talk. He has many interesting things to say.

Cuts a BB in half while its being shot at him!
Dr. Evil: Romney = Obama
The man who has done significant harm to the U.S. and helped engineer Obama’s election in 2008, also admits to being a Useful Idiot.
Been Busy
I got caught up in several things and forgot to post something yesterday. Now Monday is blown. Will post something tomorrow.
Double Bummer
I’m going to have to skip that convention in Anaheim this weekend. I was really hoping to go and see some old friends including Greg Horn who’s out from Florida with his family. So if you’re going, I won’t be there. Sorry.
Tonight was also the night Casey Abrams, my favorite American Idol contestant was voted off. He did a great performance last night and tonight. I don’t think he really needed to win though. he is arguable the most talent contestant they ever had and he’s only 19. It’s amazing how talented the contestants are this year. But Casey was arguably the most unique. I will definitely follow his career.
I think he came off too much like a clown here, and didn’t sing as much as growl the song. But he comes from a jazz background. And as far as I’m concerned, he should have won this season.
Jackson Hole, Wy
A Tiny Day in the Jackson Hole Backcountry from Tristan Greszko
Boy, things sure have changed. Here’s a picture of me when I was 13 visiting Jackson Hole in the early 70s. I was with a friend from junior high, seen here. Jackson Hole was a tiny town. I remember being excited by the fact you could buy all kinds of fireworks all year round there. Now it’s a playground of the rich.
Beau
Jimmy Stewart recited this poem he wrote on the Johnny Carson show in tribute to his recently deceased dog named Beau. It’s very touching, especially if you owned a pet.
More Photos
Here’s some pictures from a 1999 Con I attended in Madrid, Spain. The first shows the guests in front of the convention hall. The second shows a big dinner we went to one night, at a Spanish Barbecue restaurant. I am way in the back near Brian Bendis.

And this is a sadly faded image from a 2004 outing I had with a couple friends in Vegas at the Neonoplis. Comic book retailer Jim Brocious of Cosmic Comics and Michael Paulson, owner of the excellent Furniture Markdowns store.
