Politics

The Song Remains the Same

I’m not a fan of politicians as you may know, but I really like Thaddeus McCotter, a rock musician turned common sense congressman from Michigan. As he points out, The Democrats are trying to shut down the government, not the Republicans. I see all over the social sites that it’s the fault of Republicans if it gets shut down. Nonsense.

Democrats are trotting out the same lies they do every year. Republicans are trying to starve children, throw seniors on the street, kill women, blah blah blah. The fact that anyone listens to them anymore is a sad state of affairs. But the public is becoming less interested all the time as the last election showed. As the president’s and the Democrats declining poll numbers reveal.

The Democrats had control of the house for the last four years. They could have passed a budget last year but they didn’t. They want to keep raising the debt ceiling. That’s the crux of the problem, they are not being remotely responsible. And with the president even willing to stop the paychecks of our military during a shutdown, it’s the Democrats who should reap the blame for any problems.

Even the Congressional Budget office says the current spending will bankrupt us. Politicians not willing to deal with the serious need to cut spending have to go.

What Happened in WI

Early today the Democrats were hooting that they just got a supreme court justice elected. That would have thrown the whole union debate in their favor as they wanted to throw the recently passed law out. Not so fast. It seems over 7,000 votes weren’t counted for the Republican, Prosser. Now he has a lead too big to overcome.

The Democrats tried to pull another Minnesota, where they lose until they “find” the votes they need to win. The have done this multiple times in other states like Washington where the current governor never deserved to be there, nor did the current senator. As for California, I find it strange that L.A. and San Francisco always comes in last with the votes. It seems like they exist to “find” the votes needed so Democrats keep getting elected.

It’s a serious problem where there is so much blatant corruption in elections. Next year we will be voting to see whether or not President Obama will be sent back to Chicago. Wisconsin lucked out this time, the crooks didn’t get away with their game this time. We have to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Government Doesn’t Help People

Walter Williams worked his way up from poverty and explains how political power isn’t what helps people. Government is a hindrance, not a helper. Seel the previous post. Bureaucracies are killers of prosperity.

Fiscal Responsibility?

Today Nancy Pelosi gave a lecture about fiscal responsibility. Under Pelosi and Obama the deficit and the debt have tripled. Obama’s treasury secretary Tim Geithner said Congress needs to raise the debt ceiling again. Because all they want to do is keep spending like there’s no tomorrow. The fact is the government has been criminally negligent with the people’s money. They should be forced to work with what they get and if that means cutting federal workers, they need to get started.

Public Sector Unions Explained

This video does a great job of breaking it down. Basically, people who work for the government already have better job security and pay than the average person, yet they are not satisfied. They want more. And as we’ve seen in Wisconsin, people are threatening violence against anyone who disagrees with them. The Democrats and labor unions have escalated the madness there.

State budgets around the nation are out of control and a large part of it is because of public sector unions. Here in California, Governor Jerry Brown made it possible for public sector employees to unionize back when he was governor in the late 70s, early 80s. Now the state is broke and as governor his solution is to raise fees and fines to the ceiling, he is seeking to raise taxes almost as soon as he was in office, despite his claim he wouldn’t do that. But the reality is, even lefty governors like Brown will have to face cutting back on state workers. The states, and the federal government are not able to continue the way they are.

Notice that the statists all claim there’s plenty of money. We just need to take it all from “the rich”. There isn’t enough money in that well, and frankly, government should operate within its means.

Collective Bargining 101

It’s the worst kind of arrangement you can imagine, so it’s not surprise the government does it. Shutting down this nonsense has to be a priority. The massive demonstration in Wisconsin is meant to scare other governors into not doing what Scott Walker has done. Judge your governor accordingly.

There Are Two Sides to Every Story

Sometimes there are more than two. Yet many people today only listen to one side and believe what they are told. It’s robs them of the ability to see what’s truly going on in the world. If you want to be a blind follower, only believe one side. You can’t take anything at face value if you want to be a truly fair minded, reasonable person.

So with that in mind, I want to recommend an article by one of the Koch Brothers who have been so demonized and vilified by the left in the last year. The left loves a straw man argument. They love to scape goat people and companies. A political tactic that goes back to ancient times when devils and demons were blamed for the world’s ills so that leaders and politicians could avoid the blame.

Charles G. Koch explains their motivations well in this Wall Street journal piece. Not only are they blameless for anything going on, they have every right to stand up for what they believe in. Only fascists want to shut down the free exchange of ideas. Despite what the left wants to believe, the Koch brothers did not “invent” the tea party. Nor are they responsible for everything it does. The tea party is not a unified group. There are many different tea parties in different regions of the US. They are mostly unified in the opinion that government is out of control. That’s hardly a radical or unrealistic opinion.

The government is going broke. And it’s because it’s out of control.

Obama’s Disastrous Foreign Policy

Obama’s took credit for Mubarak stepping down yet all that happened is a military Junta with the same policies took over. And now radicals are tying to displace pro-American leaders all over the middle east.

Jimmy Carter only lost Iran, even though that lead to the war on terror we’re in now. Obama’s pathetic leadership and lack of skills could get us in a third world war. If the governments willing to do business with the west are supplanted by radicals, get ready for one.

Obama’s Friends and Enemies

Unions Are Greedy

We’re always hearing about greedy capitalists. Well, they’re not alone.

These teachers make more than the average Wisconsin, they don’t have to pay hardly anything into their retirement and they can’t get fired. Contrast that to the millions out of work who can’t even get unemployment and you can call this protest BS.

Not the Same Thing

This however is a more fair comparison

Conservatives: The Tolerant Side

Most economic (and even social) conservatives are very tolerant despite the hype and negative spin coming from the progs. A large percentile of people who are right of center are more libertarian that ever. It’s time the haters get shoved aside on both sides of the political divide and the majority of people come together to find common ground. For too long political debates have been driven by the extremists who are not looking out for the average citizen.

Richard Dreyfus on Civics

Nice to see he is going for a non-partisan position. More people in Hollywood need to do that.

(Yes, I am a non-partisan myself, despite what it may appear. I am not for either party. I am for smaller government that works. I support any politician who seriously seeks that goal.)

Obama Is Over

Today another judge ruled Obamacare is unconstitutional. 27 states (a majority) are suing to get out of it. Obamacare is arguably the biggest accomplishment of his administration, even though he didn’t really do any work to get it done except give a few speeches. But it may go down in flames now.

Meanwhile, over the weekend, as Egypt erupted in flames and riots President Obama partied and watched basketball. One of our major allies in the middle east may end up going to crazed Islamists, like Iran did under Jimmy Carter. If that happens the Middle East may be engaged in even more extreme conflict just as Obama is planning to bail out on Iraq and Afghanistan. He will go down as the worst president in history if that happens.

Meanwhile, gas and food prices are shooting higher. Unemployment is not improving. And Darrel Issa hasn’t even revved up his planned investigations into the administration.

This year may prove to be a bad one for many people, including the president who makes Jimmy Carter look like a genius by comparison.

There are still plenty of people who refuse to see what’s obvious, that this administration is in way over its head, but they will find their delusions increasingly difficult to maintain in the wake of what’s going down. The pathetic handling of the Egyptian crisis and the cluelessness of Obama, Biden, Clinton has been appalling.

America made a huge mistake when it handed the presidency to an untried, inexperienced man with no real accomplishments to his name other than getting elected to higher office. The damage he is doing may last long after he’s done. When Jimmy Carter threw the Shah of Iran under the bus, the tree of Islamic terrorism began to grow and 9/11 was its bitter fruit. Let us hope things don’t degenerate worse than they already have.
