Did the Obama Administration Just Commit a War Crime?
I got to thinking about what happened last Sunday and after watching the strange, frantic ever changing story coming out of the White House I began to think they must be trying to cover something up. Their behavior is consistent with that kind of action. So I looked at what happened and realized something. They may have done something illegal, and it was made illegal by President Obama’s own actions in 2009. President Obama may have committed a war crime.
Read about it here on Big Peace.
UPDATE: Judge Andrew Napolitano agrees with my points.
The Hypocrisy of Anti-War Movements
The anti-war movement, despite what the ANSWER guy claims in the video, was never as big as it was in the 1960s. In any event, it was largely a ginned up Anti-Bush thing that had to do more with the idea of hating “conservatives”, even though Bush never was much of one. Now that Obama is continuing Bush’s wars the anti-war movement is left with tiny groups protesting for their own reasons. International ANSWER is a communist, anti-western group that applauds dictators like Chavez and Castro, even Kim Jong Il and Saddam Hussein when he was alive. Despite their claims to be against war and racism they support some of the worst, most brutal leaders on earth. The libertarian left, which is anti-war, is for small government and isolationism, which I can certainly understand and more or less support except it’s naive. The US has to look after its interests overseas. It’s just not doing it well.
Obama lied about ending the wars. But then, he had to when he was given a dose of reality when sworn in. None the less, he is planning to make major cuts to the military which will please leftists but will hurt our economy and weaken out defense. Two things that probably appeal to his ideological masters. In any event, anti-war movements are not what they claim to be. The mass protesters are just followers who lose interest the second “their guy” gets elected. They don’t seem to care if people are getting killed by a Democrat administration because they can pretend that’s the “good guys”.
ANSWER was the biggest organizer of anti-war rallies in the last 10 years and their motives are far from pure. They supported Saddam Hussein. End of story.
Like the green movement, there are a lot of well intentioned but naive and ignorant people who follow the leader and generally do what they’re told without realizing they are actually doing more harm than good. But that’s the nature of things. People waste a lot of energy tilting at windmills.
Wikileaks Reveal: USA Found WMDs in Iraq
Yes, kids. In an attempt to make the US look bad, Wikileaks found some things that make anti-war lefties look worse. Iraq war casualties were much lower than anti-war activists said. And they found WMDs in Iraq. Whoops!
By late 2003, even the Bush White House’s staunchest defenders were starting to give up on the idea that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
But for years afterward, WikiLeaks’ newly-released Iraq war documents reveal, U.S. troops continued to find chemical weapons labs, encounter insurgent specialists in toxins, and uncover weapons of mass destruction.
An initial glance at the WikiLeaks war logs doesn’t reveal evidence of some massive WMD program by the Saddam Hussein regime — the Bush administration’s most (in)famous rationale for invading Iraq. But chemical weapons, especially, did not vanish from the Iraqi battlefield. Remnants of Saddam’s toxic arsenal, largely destroyed after the Gulf War, remained. Jihadists, insurgents and foreign (possibly Iranian) agitators turned to these stockpiles during the Iraq conflict — and may have brewed up their own deadly agents.
In August 2004, for instance, American forces surreptitiously purchased what they believed to be containers of liquid sulfur mustard, a toxic “blister agent” used as a chemical weapon since World War I. The troops tested the liquid, and “reported two positive results for blister.” The chemical was then “triple-sealed and transported to a secure site” outside their base.
Three months later, in northern Iraq, U.S. scouts went to look in on a “chemical weapons” complex. “One of the bunkers has been tampered with,” they write. “The integrity of the seal [around the complex] appears intact, but it seems someone is interesting in trying to get into the bunkers.”
The people opposed to the war had good arguments they could have used, but instead chose to lie about things and in fact made a lot of absurd and extreme claims to try to make the US and the Bush administration look bad, just like the protesters during Vietnam lied about atrocities committed by US soldiers when most were committed by the NVA and Viet Kong. Whatever you may think of the Iraq war, it’s important that people deal with the reality of it and not believe the lies.
Bolton Smackdown
John Bolton’s analysis of the new Bob Woodward book “Obama’s Wars” is right on the money. Watch the weasely left wing think tank drone try to spin it. That anyone would have faith in Obama at this point is pretty amazing. He has been wrong about everything. Check out the following chart of Government spending. Since the Democrats took over Congress in 2006, spending has shot straight up. Remember, Congress controls spending. Not presidents. But the combination of Obama and Pelosi has been deadly.
The Crescent War
Anyone who thinks Islamist extremists aren’t using any means necessary to take over the west hasn’t been studying history. Islamists don’t have to use warfare, they can use our system of tolerance and “multi-culturalism” against us. And they can afford to be patient.
Europeans made a huge mistake in letting in wave upon wave of immigrants without thinking about the consequences of so many people from such an alien culture might do to their demographics and society. The Islamists made no effort to assimilate. Leftist multiculturalism demands that the west adapt to immigrants, not the other way around. It’s been the stated goal of the left to tear down western culture for 100 years now. The unintended consequence of this action is to create a vacuum that opportunists like Islamist fascists will try to fill.
The leftists think they have things under control. This is why they support any Islamic actions, like the Ground Zero Mosque. The Islamists want to plant a flag, and the lefties are happy to let them. The truth is, lefties are not winning. Their ideas don’t work and never have. They weaken and destroy economies. Islamism only leads to dysfunctional, repressive states just as bad a Marxist ones, but in a different way.
Like it are not we’re in a new cold war, which I’m calling the Crescent War, after the symbol of Islam. Who knows where it’s going, or how long it will play out. The old war lasted Decades. This one may as well.
They will try to subvert us the way the communists tried to subvert us. The communists made great strides, even though they failed in other ways. Both will try to damage us.
As I have said before, we do not want to fall like Iran did.

Vietnam Redux
We didn’t lose the Vietnam war, no matter what they may have told you in school. We defeated the North Vietnamese army, the Tet offensive was the last hurrah of the North. But the Democrats used it and the capitulation message that came from CBS’s Walter Cronkite as an excuse to cut off funding to the war. The Nixon Administration (mainly Dr. Henry Kissinger) had been negotiating with the North for a peaceful resolution. But cutting off funding, the North knew we were going to leave. So they just waited till we did and moved in. Peace treaty or not, as soon as the majority of our troops pulled out, they moved in and the South fell to the communists. A very serious humanitarian disaster followed for years.
The Democrats and the leftist anti-war crowd shrugged. The same people who were complaining about American committed “atrocities” in the war, most of which were nothing but communist propaganda, didn’t seem to care about the atrocities that were perpetrated on all these displaced people. A vast number of them came here.
Prepare for something similar. Barack Obama gave a speech today indicating that we were done in Iraq, and would be winding down in Afghanistan. This is basically telling Al Qaeda and other monsters in the region there will be a power vacuum and they can move in unopposed. It will happen. And when it does hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people will die. Many will be displaced. Many will relocate here. Two more dominos will fall and Muslim extremists will have two more nations under their control.
Obama has neither the skill, the wisdom or the will to maintain our war efforts. He put good people in charge, but he has lost the support of most Americans and will try to appease his base, who are losing interest in him fast. The same crowd who didn’t care about the boat people and the Cambodian killing fields will make jokes about the Iraqis and Afghanis who lose their lives and freedom to terrorists and the Taliban. I’m sure sanctimonious clowns like David Letterman will make cracks to Paul about how glad he is we’re out of there. Then wipe mock flop sweat from his brow.
Jimmy Carter sold out the people of Iran. Obama will have two nations on his conscience, if he has one.
Unless some miracle happens in the next year, I say expect to see a lot of horror stories coming from the middle east. That may sound really pessimistic, but this administration is repeating history.
Elections do have consequences. When Bush started his war on terror and said it would take 10 years, I thought: “If your war is unpopular and the other party gets elected, it can end badly.”
I hope I’m wrong.
A Touching Story
Compare that era to the selfish world of today. And a president who apologizes to the world’s worst regimes for our country.
Hearts and Minds
This documentary on the Vietnam war won the Academy award in 1975. It was also the year it came out because it was delayed for legal reasons. I remember it having a profound effect on me at the time, mainly because it revealed some things about the war that is never discussed and thus little known. Namely, that Harry Truman is responsible for the war because he lent the French the money to try to retake Indochina, which was once their colony and that is what began the conflict.
The film is made by people opposed to the Vietnam war but it is fairly even handed and has excellent interviews. If you haven’t seen it or seen it in a long time I recommend it. People need to understand that Vietnam is a war started by and escalated by Democrats. It was mismanaged by Democrats. It was ended by a Republican. But the lefties want us to believe it was a right wing conspiracy. It wasn’t and this documentary shows that.
After you watch this, I highly recommend watching The Fog of War by Errol Morris, which deals with Robert MacNamara’s approach to the Vietnam conflict. MacNamara was the Donald Rumsfeld of the Vietnam conflict. This film tells his side of the story, as the left attacked him back then as much as they did Rumsfeld during the Bush years.
